What is Funding4Learning?

Funding4Learning is a new and revolutionary way for people around the world to fund their studies and educational campaigns.

F4L provides a simple online platform where anybody can raise money fast, with no hassles, and with a global reach.

Our vision is that people with talent and skills should have the opportunity to pursue their ambitions, and that money shouldn't be an issue anymore.

Can you imagine if talented people from underdeveloped countries can have the same opportunities that others have? What an impact could this have in the development and growth of human capital in these countries?

How does Funding4Learning work?

With Funding4Learning, you create a campaign where you tell your story and your goals, set a funding goal in accordance with your tuition fee, and offer interesting rewards to contributors.

You will have the principal role in your campaign, as you can use Funding4Learning to create your campaign, share it with your network through social networks, engage fans, track information about contributors, and collect money.

Funding4Learning provides all the necessary knowledge and customer service for creating your campaigns and collecting money, working together to promote campaigns through social media and press outreach, as well as on our homepage, in our newsletters, and on our blog.

F4L gives you the alternative of either using an all-or-nothing or just direct contribution system to contribute or raise money.

Who can use Funding4Learning?

Funding4Learning is open for anyone around the world looking to undertake any kind of study or educational program and who is the need for financial support.

Funding4Learning has also introduced a new feature: the possibility for an education institution to upload and promote their educational programs, with the option of offering interesting incentives to students who decide to contact them through our website.

What is an all-or-nothing raising approach?

Funding4Learning works using an all-or-nothing system to raise money. This means that if you don't achieve your initial raising goal, no money will change hands.

We work under the assumption that if somebody needs 30.000$ for a masters course, but is only able to raise 15.000$, he will be unable to pay for his full tuition and therefore unable to achieve the degree he is aiming for.

This payment option allows both us donors and us to be sure that their pledge will effectively be destined to funding an educational course or campaign.

What is a direct contribution raising approach?

As an alternative, a contributor can directly donate to a campaign paying via credit card or PayPal. This is an automatic payment, and the money contributed will be immediately transferred to the campaign owner account regardless of the campaign outcome.

What is the key for having a successful campaign?

The success of your campaign will ultimately depend on your ability to impress potential donors, to interest them through amazing rewards, and finally on your capacity to market yourself and bring sponsors from your friends, family, networks and acquaintances.

Funding4Learning will provide you the access to millions of potential sponsors for your campaign, our customer service can also give you advice on how to improve your profile to get as much sponsors as you can!

CAMPAIGNS AND REWARDS FAQS

What do I need to create a campaign?

To start campaigning you just need to click on "start a campaign" where you will be asked to upload and supply the following information:

After you have finished setting up a campaign, your cause will enter into a "pending approval" state. You need to allow for about one day in order for us to approve your campaign.

Is it compulsory to offer rewards?

Yes. The offer of rewards is a key element for giving incentives to the community to fun your cause.

What kind of rewards can I offer?

There are no fixed rules or standards concerning the kind of reward you can offer. You just need to be sure that you reward is interesting for the community, and the it will attract the attention of potential donors.

Some examples of rewards could be: offering a new design for a living room if you are an interior designer, or maybe commit yourself to give free lifetime financial advice if you are an economist. Another type of reward could be to offer the donor free accommodation or a city tour if they ever visit the city where you will study.

You can also send physical rewards like an university t-shirt, a mug with your photo, etc.

We encourage you to be creative!

Can I change my funding goal or deadline?

No. Once the campaign launches you can't modify your funding goal or deadline.

Can a campaign be modified after launching?

Yes. You can change your photo, video, and description. The only things that you cannot modify are the funding goal, deadline or rewards.

Can I run more than one campaign simultaneously?

Yes, but you have to keep in mind that you can't have more than one campaign for the same study or campaign.

If your campaign was unsuccessful, you can always try to raise the funds again, but you have to wait until it finishes.

What happens if I reach my goal before the time expires?

There is no limit on how much you can raise, even if you reach your funding goal, your campaign will continue to exist until the expiration date.

Do you accept campaigns from any country?

Yes. As the matter of fact we encourage people from all around the world to raise money for their studies through our platform.

Is there a maximum for how much a campaign can raise?

You can raise as much as you want.

Keep in mind that the more you want to raise, the more difficult it will be for you to get fully funded.

How does a campaign gets recommended?

This is a decision made by our editorial staff. If your campaign is well structured, you have an interesting and diverse profile, offer creative rewards, and have a compelling video or photo, you have a strong chance of being recommended by us.

Can I cancel the funding campaign?

Yes. If you decide to cancel the funding campaign, all pledges made through the all-or-nothing approach will automatically voided.

If you fail to give us a reasonable explanation of why you decided to cancel the funding you might be banned from participating again in our platform.

How do I get in touch with my sponsors to send them the rewards?

After the campaign is over, you will get the information (email and phone number) of all your backers, so you can contact them in order to arrange the delivery of the promised rewards.

What's the allowed file size for images?

Images must be max 10MB or less, and one of the following file types: JPEG, PNG, GIF, BMP

Can I contact my sponsors directly?

You can contact your sponsors through the comments tab on your campaign page.

How do I get feedback from contributors or fans about my campaign?

Sponsors and fans can provide feedback on the comments tab of your funding campaign. To encourage comments and discussion, you can direct people there in your campaign profile.

Are campaigns subject to moderation?

Yes, all campaigns are moderated. This is done so that the Funding4learning team can ensure that they meet the eligibility requirements and to prevent spam. You will receive a confirmation e-mail within 24hours max (usually less).

CONTRIBUTING TO CAMPAIGNS

How do I contribute to a campaign?

To contribute to a campaign, just click the "Contribute now" button on any campaign page. You will be asked to input your contributing amount and chose a payment method. Funding4Learning provides 2 possible payment methods: All-or-nothing-Contribution or Direct Contribution. From there, you will go through the PayPal checkout process. Note that you must finish the PayPal checkout process for your contribution to be recorded.

If funding does not succeed do backers pay anything?

If funding fails, all contributions made via all-or-nothing payment method are canceled and money will never leave your account. However, if you contributed using the direct payment approach, your contribution will be disbursed to the campaign owner regardless of the outcome.

If I make a contribution, when is my account charged?

If you made a contribution using the direct payment approach, your account will be charged as soon as you make the contribution.

If you made a contribution using the all-or.-nothing approach, your account will be charged when the campaign reaches its funding deadline. If the campaign does not reach its funding goal, your account is never charged.

If I make a contribution, what info does the campaign creator receive?

If you choose to be an anonymous contributor, no information will be required. Otherwise, campaign creators see your username, your contribution amount, and the reward you've selected. If funding succeeds we'll also give the campaign creator your email and address to contact him/her.

Do I need to have a PayPal account?

For contributions made through the direct contribution approach, there is no need of having a PayPal account. Funding4Learning just uses PayPal platform to manage transactions and ensure they're secure. It's a simple, safe and international service.

However, if you choose the all-or-nothing approach, you need to have a PayPal account. If you don't have a PayPal account, it's free to create one, and you can do it while in the process of contributing, it will only take seconds. Alternatively, you can go to: http://www.paypal.com. Remember that Funds are transferred directly from the PayPal account of the donor to that of the campaign owner

Can I cancel a contribution I made?

If you contributed using the all-or-nothing payment option, you can always contact PayPal in order to cancel your contributions. You just need to do it within the campaign timeframe.

Do I get notified if a campaign I'm backing succeeds?

We'll send you an email when funding ends, no matter the outcome

What do I receive for contributing to a campaign?

F4L campaigns offer unique rewards to their contributors. If the campaign you fund offers rewards, you can claim one with your contribution.

How do I claim my reward if I haven't received it?

Only the campaign owner can answer that. Funding4Learning helps connect people and provides promotion tools to campaign owners, but is not involved in the campaigns themselves. If there's a problem receiving your reward, you can contact the campaign owner directly by e-mail, or through his or her profile page, to find out what happened.

How much information do I share when making a contribution?

What happens after I contribute to a campaign?

The person running the campaign will contact you regarding updates to the campaign and how to fulfill your reward. You will also receive a confirmation email from F4L.

ACCOUNT SETTINGS

Can I change my profile name?

Yes, you can change your profile name by going to your profile page.

How can I change the email address associated with my account?

On your profile page you will find an option to modify the email address associated with your account.

I forgot my password, how do I log in?

You can request a password reset on the log in page

How do I delete my account?

Your account can be deleted from your profile page. Warning: this is not reversible!

Do I have to have a PayPal account to organize a fundraising campaign?

Yes. It is compulsory, since all transactions are handled by PayPal.

Campaign owners must have a Premier or Business account. When creating your campaign, Funding4Learning will ask you to enter the PayPal account information that you want to use for your campaign. Don't worry if you don't have an account, it's easy, quick and free to open one. You can do it while in the process of creating your campaign.

Do the funds go through F4L?

No. The funds are transferred directly from the PayPal accounts of the donors to that of the campaign owner.

How do I collect the donations?

All the money you raise will be transferred to the PayPal account you linked to the campaign when you created it.

When will I receive the donations?

For all contributions made using the all-or-nothing approach, the money will be transferred to your PayPal account in a few business days after the fundraising deadline (if the target amount was reached, of course).

For all contributions made using the direct contribution approach, the money will be transferred to your PayPal account as soon as the payment is processed by PayPal.

FEES

What fees does F4L charge?

For funds raised through the all-or-nothing approach, if a campaign is successfully funded, F4L will apply a 5% fee to the funds raised. If funding isn't successful, there will be no charges.

For funds raised through the direct contribution, F4L will apply a 5% fee to the funds raised, regardless of the outcome of the campaign.

Does PayPal charge any fees?

Yes. When a campaign is successful, PayPal will apply credit card processing fees, For details on how the fee is calculated, please visit PayPal website for further information

Does it cost money to list a campaign on F4L?

No, starting a campaign is free.

PROGRAMMES' FAQS

What is a Funding4Learning Programme?

Funding4Learning offers institutions the possibility of advertising educational courses on its platform. This initiative is set to enhance the offer of educational courses to our community, and to build, together with Funding4learning campaigns, a complete service to both offer and demand.

Who can create a Programme in Funding4Learning?

Any institution that is offering or willing to offer a course to someone is legitimate to create a Program in our platform to advertise it. It is easy, fast and with no hassles.

How is the process of advertising a Programme in Funding4Learning?

All you need to do is to click on "advertise your programme" and fill the form describing the programme or course offered: typology, dates, price, target students... as many information as possible so your programme can be appealing to the world. Once the programme is created, it will take less than 48 hours to be approved by the team.

As soon as your programme is approved you will receive an email with a temporary login and password, you can change them by logging in to your personal profile.

You can edit, publish, and unpublish your programme through your personalized menu at your personal profile.

Do institutions have to pay to announce their courses and educational programmes?

Our advertising service is currently free. We will let you know in case our pricing policy changes.

Is there a maximum of programs than can be advertised by a single institution?

No, Funding4Learning allows as many coursed to be advertised as long as they follow the criteria and information requirements set by Funding4Learning.
